The Carbon Trust Standard

The Carbon Trust Standard is awarded to companies who successfully reduce their carbon emissions

Companies start by providing their carbon footprints for the last 2-3 years which we verify – so there’s no hiding information.

Footprints include Scope 1 and 2 emissions i.e. fuel use such as gas and transport fuel and electricity usage and some companies also include business travel emissions.

Companies need to demonstrate to an independent assessor that they have a working process in place to ensure that they address carbon in their day-to-day operations and a real commitment to reducing in the future.

Initiatives can include staff training and investment in new energy efficient technologies.

Only companies that can prove they have reduced their carbon emissions are awarded the Carbon Trust Standard

To maintain their award, companies need to recertify every two years.
