Our vision is for every organisation to tackle climate change by measuring, managing and actively reducing its own carbon footprint.
How we do this
Our mission is to inspire and encourage all organisations to measure, manage and reduce their emissions. We do this by:
- Providing independent and reliable assessment of an organisation’s action and commitment to ongoing measurement, management and reduction of its own carbon footprint.
- Rewarding and recognising organisations that achieve the Carbon Trust Standard with a logo that can be used to communicate their achievements.
- Demonstrating and promoting the commercial benefits of reducing carbon emissions, together with our achievers.
In order to achieve our mission we are committed to continuing to develop and improve our service, by:
- Building on international best practice, including the GHG Protocol and ISO14064.
- Reviewing and updating the Carbon Trust Standard methodology.
- Ensuring the robustness of our assessments through a rigorous assessment and quality control process.
- Listening to feedback from our customers and other stakeholders.
