Get certified

The need to substantiate environmental claims is quickly becoming an imperative as customers and stakeholders become increasingly sceptical. The Carbon Trust Standard can provide this independent confirmation and assurance that organisations displaying the logo have genuinely measured, managed and reduced their carbon footprint.

Applying for certification is a straightforward process. There are three basic steps you will need to follow:

  • Apply for assessment against the Standard
  • Collect your data and prepare your evidence
  • Undergo assessment by an independent assessor

You can find out more detail on what’s involved by reading our assessment criteria, assessment process and our full methodology.

The cost of assessment is based on the size of your organisation and how much support you require with the process. Whatever your level of experience, our team are committed to helping you understand and achieve the Standard.

Assessment criteria

To achieve the Carbon Trust Standard your organisation must meet three criteria:
1. Accurately measure its carbon footprint
2. Achieve a reduction in its footprint year on year
3. Demonstrate good carbon management

Assessment process

If you meet the assessment criteria, you can apply for the Standard. You will need to be able to demonstrate that you have measured, managed and reduced your emissions.

Assessment of compliance with the Standard is then undertaken by one of our team of independent assessors.
