Achieving the Standard Assessment process

Getting information about the Standard

To apply for the Standard please either:

  1. Call 0800 019 1443 to register your interest and to discuss how you would prefer to proceed
  2. Complete the enquiry form and submit it. We will contact you shortly.

Assessment

There are two main ways to proceed with your assessment:

  1. Certification only: If you have all the information necessary and are confident that you have the evidence to support your application, you can complete your own assessment form and submit the form and evidence to us by email. An independent assessor will then assess your organisation’s carbon reduction activities against the Standard
  2. Assisted certification: Where you think you need some help in gathering the data and completing the assessment form please call 0800 019 1443 and we can discuss your requirements with you. We can provide additional support to prepare you for assessment and complete the assessment form.

An independent assessor will review your application to judge whether or not your organisation meets the requirements of the Standard. This assessment would normally include visiting your organisation, and verifying the evidence contained in the application.

Moderation

If the assessor believes your organisation meets the Standard, the assessor will pass your application for moderation. Independent moderators will review each assessment to verify the conclusions.

Certification

On successful assessment the Carbon Trust Standard Company will certify the organisation and issue a certificate, which will be valid for two years.
