Independent Assessors
An important element of the service we provide relies upon our deployment of independent assessors. The role of the assessor is to:
• Provide independent guidance to those undergoing Assisted Certification;
• Review submissions from organisations undergoing Certification Only;
• Provide an objective and independent recommendation for organisations that meet published reduction and governance criteria that an applicant organisation be awarded the Carbon Trust Standard.
Our assessors are accredited after undergoing a selection process that usually involves a four-step process:
1. Completing and submitting an application and responding to a range of questions to provide information on an individual’s education, skills and experience in carbon management;
2. Undergoing a review of that application against pre-determined criteria by independent advisers to the Carbon Trust Standard Company and being short listed for an interview;
3. Successfully completing an interview with representatives of the Carbon Trust Standard Company and a training programme;
4. Being accredited by the Carbon Trust Standard Company as an assessor.
From time to time we expect to seek applications from individuals who believe they may have the skills and experience that we need.
When we seek applications we would normally set out our requirements below and on the Carbon Trust website (www.carbontrust.co.uk/about/Jobs).
During times when we are not actively seeking applicants to be assessors prospective assessors might find it convenient to log their interest on our website by completing a simple form. When we then next go out to seek further assessors we will send an email to those whose interest is already logged on our website to see if they wish to apply for a position as an independent assessor. If this is of interest please use the following link: http://www.carbontruststandard.co.uk/Aboutus/NewAssessorEnquiry/tabid/220/language/en-GB/Default.aspx
